Today lesson was totally GREAT n FUn to the MAX..
It is called gp work..
We have to learn how to conduct gp therapy session..
these are usually for client with mental disabilities..
such as dementi, anxiety disorder or even anyone with socialisation prob..
In these session..
we need to have "warm-up" activites to get them know each other..
Then a main activity to "open" them up..
Finally a "cool down" activity to end it..
Think Jo is training to let us see how she facilitate the gp..
The warm-up activities is called "Singapore map"
Jo showed us the spore map nask us to arrange paper with the names of diff location to the floor..

We are then supposed to "swim" in the water..
n land on diff location..
Ex:
Jo:Pretend u are swiming ard the island n now swim to the place u live in when u are 7 yrs old..

Place that I live..smb..
The West side people..Then Jo change into diff ques..
such as "place of ur JCs"
"Places that u went on weekends"
"Places offshore that u wanna go.."
Etc..
very fun..
We get to know each other better..n communicate with each other..
Think this activities is to let those client know each other better..
by finding them common topic to start from..
we help to break their ice..
When Jo say..where u wanna go oversea..everyone SQUEEZE to the location called"Changi" lol..cos they wanna FLY..haha..
Then the next, which is the MAIN activities, are to draw out the genogram of family..
These allow those client to expressed themselves by symbolism..
they can choose the colour they wanna use and ways they wanna drew it..

Next we are supoosed to represent them using seashells or buttons..
client can choose the shape, design, colours of these n this allow them choice n freedom to expressed themselves..
Also by using symbolic..they can choose wat n how much they wanna share cos it is all not stated out clearly but represented..client may feel more comforable that they can keep some of the things to themselves n share the amt they intended to..

Then later is the rElaxation..which is the "cool down" activities..
We are told to close our eyes..n given pillow to sleep on..
the light are dim n the air-con is totally awesoome..LOL..
Music is played n we hear the sound of bird chippiing..

Even darker..quite relaxing..WOW..how many lesson do u have that u are allowed to SLEEP in..lol..so happy.. Yup..
that day lesson is just 1 hrs pplus..but then so much can do done..really impressed..
also my lao po went taiwan during holiday..so brought back peanuts for class to share..

Then our class is supoosed to perform for the soiree..which is an event when all the OT comes tgt..haha..I gt bball training so skip..but still need follow them prasctice..haizz..We dancing Jai Ho..
